It is now 10 years since Four Winds established itself at our main site just outside Sharnford. Prior to that, a small growing business had been established within the owner’s back garden at Elmsthorpe, where he also ran a landscaping business. This initial setup consisted of a few growing tunnels, which mainly produced plants for the wholesale market. Today these tunnels are still used, along with the 6 large tunnels at the Sharnford site, enabling us to grow the ever-changing varieties of plants that become available each year.

When our main site was first set up we were growing solely for the wholesale market, but as time has gone on we have developed our retail area to allow the general public to browse and purchase our stock. We still provide a wholesale service for other local garden centres, but the retail side has grown, and still continues to do so, as more people find out where we are and what we provide.

We have always prided ourselves in providing quality at a fair price, along with a staff that cares for the plants from the early stages, through to the shop ready item that our customers take home. As we grow a large percentage of our own stock, we have an in-depth knowledge of how different plants grow and are therefore able to pass this on to our customers.

With the changes we have made over the past year, and those that we continue to make, we hope to provide you with a greater shopping experience and also give you an insight into what goes on behind the scenes. We hope to achieve this through our new website and through various events and activities that we hope to hold in the future.

One passion we all have here at Four Winds is to get young people more involved in gardening. We hope to achieve this by hosting events and activities and by providing information on our website, in which we hope to cover topics that are included in the national curriculum and taught in schools.
